Dr. Brian Sheridan for Guilderland Town Board

A lifelong resident of the Captial District, Brian Sheridan graduated from LaSalle Institute, in 1994. He earned a B.S. in Biology/Psychology at the University of Binghamton in 1998 before completing medical school at the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin, Ireland. Brian’s pediatric residency was at Albany Medical Center and in 2006, he joined Schoolhouse Pediatrics, where he is currently a partner and highly respected pediatrician.

Since his early days working as a camp counselor at Camp Nassau (now YMCA’s Camp Adventure), Brian has been devoted to the Guilderland community. His wife of 15+ years, Elaine Sheridan, is a graduate of Guilderland High School. She earned a B.A. in Spanish (English minor) from Siena College and her M.S. in Secondary Education from The College of Saint Rose. She is currently in her 20th year of teaching at Colonie Central High School. Elaine and Brian are proud to be raising their two daughters, Alivia (11) and Ciana (7) in the Guilderland community where they spend their time participating in Dance, Cheer, Girl Scouts, Lacrosse and many other wonderful programs that the town has to offer.

From a business perspective, Brian has worked with his colleagues to expand their business. The practice has doubled in size at its Guilderland location and has expanded in the Capital District to both Coxsackie and Clifton park. Successfully growing a business in a community that prides itself on growth, with limited impact on the environment, is a challenge he faced in his own business. Working with local leaders, Schoolhouse Pediatrics was able to successfully add to its practice, while ensuring that the process was environmentally sound. Small businesses thrive on growth. Brian dedicated to earning support from community leaders while at the same time, protecting our wonderful resources, including the Pinebush.

Professionally, he has worked with various organizations to promote child welfare including the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Capital District Pediatric Society. He is on the Executive Board of Directors for CDPHP and has also served that organization as a Medical Director, and on a number of committees such as Quality, Pharmacy and Therapeutics, as well as Lead Medical Director for the Credentialing Committee.

Advocacy has always been a big part of Brian‘s career. Brian is known by family, friends, patients and colleagues to be actively involved in all aspects of his community. In 2004, he created a sibling support group in the capital District called The Bus Stop Club. This organization provides psychosocial support to siblings of children with chronic illnesses, be it physical physical or mental. He spent nine years on the Executive/ Advisory Board of the Guilderland YMCA and is currently in his third year on the Executive Board of the Capital District YMCA. He volunteers his time as a Faith Formation teacher at Saint Madeleine Sophie and is currently a Guilderland Pop Warner Board Member.

Privately, he enjoys golfing and recently joined Pinehaven country club where he is the Vice President of the Sundowners League. He enjoys taking his daughters golfing, skiing and watching them cheerlead. He is an avid basketball player and was fortunate enough to represent Ireland in college basketball playing on an international level.

As town board member, Brian will be focused
on the needs of our community.

Speaking to parents on a regular basis in his pediatric practice, as well as on the sidelines of the Pop Warner football games, Brian is acutely aware of what is needed in the community. He will bring a unique perspective to a Town Board that at this time would benefit from new ideas. Brian will work with anyone, on either side of the aisle, for the good of the community.

From strengthening senior and youth programs to ensuring an economic revival of the Community due to COVID-19, Brian will work diligently and effectively to grow and maintain this wonderful community that has been built on the backs of families.
